Market day on the show ground at Hawke's Bay

Market day on the show ground at Hawke’s Bay

Markets all have their own unique charm. For us one stands out above the rest and was actually the inspiration for the Spring Epicurean Market. In December 2012 we visited New Zealand and the timing was perfect as the Hawke’s Bay Farmer’s Market was on.

If ever there was a perfect market setting it’s this one. Nestled under enormous shade trees on the local showgrounds, the weekly Hawke’s Bay Market is truly a community event. Growers and artisans back up their trucks laden with produce while locals and tourists explore the many flavours on offer.

It’s the place to chat with a local winemaker, discover great ice cream, get the low down on honey production and stock up on jams and chutneys. To fully soak up the chilled vibe pack a picnic blanket and enjoy the live music at this picturesque market.

The Hawke’s Bay Farmer’s Market has been our muse over the past 3 years for the Spring Epicurean Market. It was also fitting that one of our founding vendors was Kiwi Pretima Patel of Good Food 4 U Bkk. We hope to make it back down that way some day.
