Raising the (coffee) bar in Hong Kong

Barista making coffee at Omotesando Koffee Hong Kong

Omotesando Koffee baristas in action – where making coffee is treated like an art form

Omotesando Koffee is a gem that we were thrilled to discover in Tokyo but it sadly closed at the end of 2015. Good news though! We were delighted to find it in Hong Kong on a recent trip. It’s truly handcrafted coffee that takes its cues from the Japanese devotion to the tea ceremony – the precision and the overall aesthetic.

The interior of the new Hong Kong space is spare but warm and very considered. It’s truly a place to appreciate a fine cup and watch the coffee being made. The baristas take their role seriously in their white lab coats. Jeans and trainers complete their uniform.

Don’t expect weathered brown leather sofas here. You know the ones you sink into that have become a fixture in most coffee chains complete with stained glass lamps overhead. This is a true original through and through that needs to be experienced.
